2 Timothy 2:8 ESV, says, “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel,”

So, what does it mean to “Remember Jesus Christ?”

It has been said that, “Living the Christian life is a combination of amnesia and déjà vu.” In other words, we have to keep learning the same lessons over and over again because we keep forgetting them. Every time it happens, we think to ourselves, “I’ve had to learn this before.” The Apostle Paul is telling Timothy, and we as believers today, to simply fix his mind on Jesus.

Remember His glorious person. Remember that He is the Word. Remember that He is equal to the Father. Remember His preexistence. Remember that He is from everlasting to everlasting. Remember that He is all Truth. Remember that He is the Holiest of Holies. Remember His sacrificial death. Remember His glorious resurrection. Remember that He was tempted as you are tempted. Remember that He is your advocate before the Father. Remember that He suffered so that you don’t have to suffer for all eternity. Remember that He is with you even to the end of the age. Remember that He made you perfectly in His own image to bring glory to Himself. Remember that He made a way so that you can be righteous.

Remember that He is the God glorifier, the Universe Creator, the Prophecy Fulfiller, the Perfect Law obeyer, the Scripture validator, the Father honorer, the humility modeler, the Cross carrier, the sin barer, the death conqueror, the grave defeater, the salvation achiever, the Prayer answerer, the Proud humbler, the Weak strengthener, the Triumphant returner, the Justice executor, the satan destroyer, the Eternal Joy Giver.

Remember Jesus Christ.
