“Guess what I want to be when I grow up…a CEF missionary just like you!”
Some people feel that change is a bad thing. Others would say that change is a good thing. In most cases, both are probably right.
At one of the 5-Day Clubs we taught during the 5-Day Club Blitz just a few weeks ago in Parkersburg, a 3rd-grade boy came forward and simply looked at Nathan and said, “I want Jesus to change my life.”
Patrick Henry is known for several things including being the first post-colonial governor of Virginia, one of the founding fathers of our great country, and his “Give me Liberty, or give me death!” speech. However, we should truly appreciate him for quotes like this, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
We all tend to ask God to work out so many things in our lives. However, it’s harder for us to accept the fact that if we truly want these things to take place we have to do our part. We’re reminded of this story of a little girl who was running late for Sunday school:
What are you worried about? What keeps you up at night? Do you believe that God is big enough to address your worries? Your fears? Do you believe that He can overcome them? Do you believe that with Him, you can?
I am reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Cor. 5:17 when he says, “… old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Of course that verse is talking about the way we are as a new believer in Christ, but it also applies to the spring season. The temperature is rising, the trees are budding, and the flowers are sprouting up from the ground.
The sun … moon … grass … animals … Wal-Mart. You may be asking yourself, “What do those things have in common”? Well, according to one 3-year-old boy in one of our Pre-K clubs, they are all things that God created. That’s right folks; you can all rest easy knowing that God did in fact create Wal-Mart.
In a Good News Club® we visited lately we asked the Club Coordinator how working in the GNC ™ made him feel. He immediately started to cry and simply said, “There’s no words to describe it ... we serve an awesome God!”
John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
